BTCC - Post Thruxton

Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing, the UK’S first motor-racing team created to run its cars with a carbon zero policy, have quickly made their mark on the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and not on the environment at round two, hosted at Thruxton Race Circuit on 26th April.

Driver Adam Jones ended the day on a high with a 2nd place podium finish ahead of fourteen other drivers.

While most teams are reliant on the consumption of fossil fuels, Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing is running its two SEAT Leons on E85 Bio-Ethanol, minimizing its CO2 emissions and offsetting any balance through the support of energy efficiency projects in Africa that offset the tonnage CO2 equivalent to their carbon footprint, in conjunction with carbon offsetting partner CO2balance.

Adam Jones is teamed up with former BTCC Independents Champion and fan-favourite Dan Eaves. The striking yellow and green Cartridge World livery is easy to spot for fans and competitors alike during the 30-race season.

Mark Holland, UK General Manager of Cartridge World, said: “Our sponsorship of the team highlights the connection between the cleaner, greener alternative of using refilled printer cartridges from Cartridge World and the use of bio-fuels by the Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing team. Both Cartridge World and Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing offer the environmentally friendly alternative without compromising on performance or quality.

“Cartridge World has proved that our refilled cartridges are equal to the originals for quality and performance and now the racing team that carries our name is proving to be equally competitive as are the bio-ethanol powered SEAT’s, which drastically reduce emissions, compared to their petrol powered rivals”.

The team will head to Donington Park in Leicestershire for round three of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship on 17th May. Fans are offered the chance to offset their own road-going vehicles CO2 emissions when driving to and from the BTCC rounds. By visiting the team website at  fans can click on ‘Emissions Calculator’ to calculate and ‘neutralise’ their emissions by making a donation to support various environmental projects in conjunction with the teams carbon-offsetting partner co2balance.
