Plant a Tree NOT a Cartridge
In support of National Tree Week 2008 (26th November – 7th December) Cartridge World stores across the UK took part in a nationwide initiative to Plant a Tree NOT a Cartridge (PATNAC). During National Tree Week Cartridge World stores monitored how many cartridges they saved from landfill and for every 25 cartridges saved from landfill; one tree was planted in the stores local community. The Plant a Tree NOT a Cartridge campaign was a huge success with 14,779 empty printer cartridges being saved from landfill, where they can take 1,000 years to decompose*. Over 500 trees where then planted across the UK in February 2009. Cartridge World stores invited nominations from their customers for individuals or organisations in their local community to receive a tree. This resulted in trees being planted with local schools, charities, nursing homes, parks and churches – all benefiting the local community.
Mark Holland, UK General Manager of Cartridge World said: “This campaign has proved to be incredibly popular with customers across the U.K. Our customers benefit every day when they come into the stores and save themselves some money through using refilled cartridges. By joining us in this scheme they also helped to save a significant number of cartridges from ending up in landfill and enabled Cartridge World to plant a tree to benefit their community.”
